American Civics Snapshots was founded to solve a fundamental problem in American society. American adults don't know enough about the basics of government and economic models to effectively participate in a democratic republic. 

Problem Analysis:

This problem has two root causes:

• Most adults in America didn't have the opportunity or motivation to learn about their government when they were in school.
• Americans are busier than ever, and therefore don't have the time or means to improve their understanding of government and economics. 

There are a lot of great creators on social media who are discussing the fundamentals of civics and economics, but the algorithm is dedicated to showing us what we already like. There are universities, like Harvard, which has recognized the issue but have limited their solution to college type courses which are free but require the commitment of time that adults today just don't have. These solutions rely on people being curious enough to seek them out. But today people are exhausted 

Solution:

ACS wants to bridge this gap, by bringing back public information campaigns, but by targeting adults and distributing lessons though various media channels which are cost effective. PSAs didn't leave the airwaves because they were ineffective, but because broadcasters needed to sell that time to those who would pay for it. Now, our media is interrupted for medicines we should ask our doctors about and every podcast we should be listening to. 

Development:

There is an opportunity for passive audiences to be presented information in effective and motivating ways. Adults don't have the time or motivation to learn what the qualities of capitalism or socialism really are, even though these terms are common and integral in social discussions today.

We need to purchase this ad space and we are competing for that space with major corporations who are selling cleaning products, cell service, and the latest pills. 

We also want to give a stage to those creator on social medial who know how to get a message across in a way that is engaging and informative. We want to free content creators from the algorithm so that their lessons are seen by wider audiences. We want to support those who believe that knowledge doesn't have to be boring, but that adults can still learn a lot when they don't intend to learn at all.
